In the northeastern city of Sumy, three fatalities and 17 injuries were reported following shelling by guided aerial bombs, stated acting Mayor Artem Kobzar. Additional casualties were also confirmed in the central Dnipropetrovsk region and the southern region of Zaporizhzhia.
Ukrainian Counteractions in the Black Sea
Simultaneously, Ukraine's military has engaged in counterattacks, with drones reportedly targeting 20 Russian vessels, including 17 oil tankers, in the Black Sea overnight. The Russian Ministry of Defense acknowledged its attacks on Odesa, claiming the operations were aimed at port infrastructure used for handling petroleum, oil, and lubricants.
Oleh Kiper, via Telegram, accused Russia of intentionally targeting civilians, stating that a missile hit a residential building, resulting in civilian casualties and injuries. Additionally, a non-residential building and a gas pipeline were reportedly damaged.
UN Report on Civilian Casualties
A report from the United Nations Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine highlighted that in June, at least 293 civilians were killed and 1,990 injured. The report noted that long-range weaponry, including missiles and drones, was the predominant cause of these casualties, responsible for 45% of the deaths. Many incidents occurred in urban areas far from the front lines, such as Kyiv and Dnipro.

On Wednesday, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen visited Kyiv to discuss cooperation between European and Ukrainian defense industries, and Ukraine's potential accession to the European Union.
